Bible Journey > Titus

Being that the opening chapter of Titus is specifically addressed to elders, it's one that I've read, studied, and even taught on numerous times. But in reading through it again this morning, several things jumped out at me:
- 1:11 - An essential part of loving the flock is protecting it - the word translated "silenced" means "to close the mouth by means of a muzzle or a gag"
- 1:13 - Sometimes that protection involves a stern rebuke
- 1:16 - One of the strongest evidences for salvation is whether we walk the walk, not just talk the talk
- 2:7 - My life (example) and teaching are inseparable - I'm still meditating on the word "dignified" (NASB - 'majesty, gravity, dignified seriousness') with reference to the responsibility associated with teaching
- 2:11-12 - The new birth will always be evidenced by the new life - or as Spurgeon used to say, "The grace that does not change my life will not save my soul."
