Sarah's Recital

We had a blast with Sarah this past weekend. We drove up to Bowling Green, OH to attend her master’s recital. She was AMAZING (my fatherly bias notwithstanding)! We also enjoyed getting to meet a number of her good friends. Here are a few short clips from her performance. Hope you enjoy it:

Abortion and the Health Care Bill

Do you think the Obama health care bill includes federal funds for abortions?

“This is Life We’re Talking About”

Can you spot the lie?

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those who are perishing. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.” (Proverbs 31:8-9)

Consumer Christianity

A humorous (and not so humorous) parody of consumer Christianity:

My take? “Ronnie” is a natural by-product of what happens when the church succumbs to the pressures of consumerism by making commodities of God and worship.

I’m not talking about the diversity of style which characterizes our expression of worship within the body of Christ. Thank God for that rich diversity! I’ve never ascribed to a “one-size-fits-all” approach when discussing worship style (i.e. contemporary or traditional).

I think arguments over style miss the point entirely.

What is the point? GOD.

In fact, I don’t give one whit about whether our contemporary expressions of worship include stained glass, organs and hymns, OR stage lighting, electric guitars and drums.

But what I DO care about is what is produced by our gatherings. As long as people approach worship for “what I will get out of it,” then God is not the center of our worship; we are.
